BSHCA 2022 Scholarship Program

This year Berkeley Shores Homeowners' Civic Association offered two (2) $1000.00 scholarships to help students of BSHCA members in good standing and students from Central Regional High School attain their educational goals.

The Scholarship recipients are:

#1) Emily Gale

Emily is the granddaughter of BSHCA members Robert and Marilyn Gale. Emily’s intended major is nursing. She will be attending Fairfield University.

Emily Gale Bio:

Emily Gale is a recent graduate of Hillsborough High School. She played varsity field hockey and was team captain her senior year. Emily was a Peer Mentor and a student tutor in the Lunch Buddies/Social Skills Program. She was a board member of the PALS Program which enables the integration of students with special needs and disabilities with general education students to promote inclusion, social connections, and communication. Emily was also involved in the planning of the Peer Plus Program which plans service events in the community. She also enjoyed being a member of the Medical Minds Club which enhanced her interest in a vocation in nursing. Outside of school, Emily is a babysitter and a server at a local family restaurant. In her free time, she enjoys reading poetry and realistic fiction novels, painting, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. She has been recently awarded the Fairfield University Loyola Merit Scholarship Award, the Outstanding Achievement in ASL Award, the TD Bank Achieve the Dream Scholarship Award, the HHS Booster Club Field Hockey Scholarship Award, and the SCSNA High School Student Nursing Degree Scholarship Award. Emily will be attending Fairfield University as a nursing major at the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies. After college, she aspires to work in a hospital as a pediatric nurse.

A Special Note from Emily:

Dear Mrs. Benn,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to formally express my sincere gratitude to you and the Berkeley Shores Homeowners’ Civic Association for awarding me the BSHCA 2022 Scholarship. I was thrilled to be notified that I was selected for this honor, and I am deeply appreciative of this award. With this scholarship, I will be able to help my family reduce the cost of college expenses, as I am extremely grateful to have the support from my parents to be able to attend the college and nursing school of my dreams. I wanted to show my gratitude to my family by being dedicated to my schoolwork, extra-curricular activities, service-oriented programs, and scholarship applications. Thank you for considering me worthy of this award, and I will work just as diligently in college as I had in high school in appreciation of the opportunities I am so fortunate to have.

Warm Regards,

Emily Gale

#2) Anthony Fraser

Anthony is the son of BSHCA member Julia Fraser. Anthony’s intended majors include Education, History and Special Education. He has been accepted at Centenary University.

A special note from Anthony:

Berkeley Shores Homeowners’ Civic Association,

With much appreciation and gratitude, I accept the generous BSHCA scholarship for 2022. The scholarship money will definitely be a help in paying for my education at Centenary University where I will be pursuing degrees in education and psychology while playing baseball as a Centenary Cyclone.

I am excited to head up into the mountains where I will learn all that I need to be the best high school teacher I can, but I will be equally excited to make that turn into Veeder as often as possible to visit home in the best kept secret - Berkeley Shores.

I look forward to seeing many of the association members at Amherst Beach this summer as I spend my second year lifeguarding our wonderful community beach before heading off to college.

Sincerely,
Anthony Fraser
