(Arrival time 10:30 AM)
Blessing of the Fleet/Commemoration to Fallen Heroes
Tune to Marine channel #69

Please join us, either by land or sea, to honor the brave men and women who gave their all for our country.

Boaters, please arrive at the designated (A) area by 10:30 AM to avoid issues of holding positions for longer than necessary. Try to stay in position and be ready to move around 10:45 AM to pass the Yellow Star and make your way over to Area (B) for the ceremony. See map below -(or download a copy here)

For those without a boat, we will be on Amherst Beach at 10:45 AM.

Guide boats are as follows:
“Hakuna” - Captained by Howard Hoffman
(powder blue 21’ Sea Hunt with bright blue flashing light).
“IT’s Fine” - Captained by Art Quade
(28’ white Boston Whaler with 4 flags flying proudly).
And in the rear will be Captain Mike Widmer
(23’ blue and gray Tide Water with 4 flags flying proudly).

You will be guided past the boat, “Dawn Marie” Captained by 1st Ward Councilman James Byrnes, where your boat will be blessed. Upon completion of your boat blessing, head to the ceremonial area at the Amherst Beach basin (Area B on map) to await the start of the Memorial Day Commemoration program.

It is important that all boats stay tuned to channel #69 for communication with the guide boats for staging instructions and most importantly, the commemoration program.

*Our program begins promptly at 11:00 AM. Remember to decorate your boat and bring fresh flowers to lay on the water for our fallen war heroes, if you so choose. (No artificial flowers, please)

If there are any changes due to weather or otherwise, we will send out communication towards the end of the week.

See you then,

Jenna Sarno
BSCA Social Director
