BSCA 2023Scholarship Program

This year Berkeley ShoresCivic Association offered two (2) $1000.00 scholarships to help students of BSCA members in good standing and students from Central Regional High School attain their educational goals.

 

The Scholarship recipients are:

#1) Caroline Ritacco
Graduating Nutley High School Class of 2023 and will be attending Tisch School of The Arts at New York University.

Caroline Ritacco Bio:

Caroline Ritacco is pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre and Technology. She has applied to Muhlenberg College, Rowan University, Montclair State University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Tisch School of The Arts at New York University, University of Hartford (The Hartt School), SUNY Cortland, NYU, and Ocean County College.

Caroline was a member of National Honor Society, TriM Honor Society as President, National Thespian Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. She also received a National Choral Award for Excellence in Vocal Performance 2022. Expanding her interests Caroline received The Vivian Doran Female Sailor of the Year 2021.She continued her sailing interest at the Ocean Gate Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program grades 9-11, becoming an instructor in 2022. She also found time for Dance activities, Marching Band, Music Student Government, Jazz Ensemble, school musicals (leading roles grades 9-12), Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and the American Sign Language
Club.


#2) Lexi Sierfeld - Graduating from Central Regional 2023 and will be attending University of Pennsylvania.

Lexi Sierfeld Bio:

Graduating Central Regional High School Class of 2023.
Lori Sierfeld is pursuing a degree in Psychology Pre-Med and Cognitive Science Pre- Med. She has applied to Princeton University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lori works as a bathroom cleaner at Good Luck Point Marina, a beach badge Office Assistant Supervisor, International Cheerleading Union Executive Board Member, and she is a paid Research Assistant to PhD Psychology students at Rutgers.

Lexi is a National Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar Award recipient, three-time USA Computing Olympiad Gold Division, team placed first of thirty in The Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science Hackathon, Boutique Behavior Psychology Hackathon Champion, first of fourteen teams. Lexi has been recognized for academic excellence in Geometry Honors, Algebra II/Trigonometry Honors, Honors Chemistry,
U.S. History Advanced Honors I, AP Physics I, AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, and AP Computer Science Principles. She is a National Honor Society member for English, Math, History, Science, and Spanish. She is also recognized as a Gold Medalist in the 2022 International Cheerleading World Championships, ICU Top 30 Under 30 Most Influential Leader, nominated (but unable to attend) as American Legion Auxiliary NJ Girls State Delegate, and a three-time Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Winner in poetry.

Lexi wrote articles for CRHS Eagles’ Voice newspaper, chaired successful fundraisers, and volunteers at Clean Ocean Action, Special Olympics and our local library branch.

We wish both recipients good luck in their future endeavors.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Any graduating senior from Central Regional High School
  • A graduating student from any high school whose parents or grandparents are current BSCA members in good standing.
  • Candidate must enroll in a two or four-year educational institution.
  • Candidate must complete the application and attach an essay of 400 to 600 words. Essay must be typed and neatly presented. Topic to be addressed: Recall a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you? What was your personal outcome from this experience?
    Be sure to clearly address the topic.


Additional requirements:

Candidates from Central Regional High School must complete and submit the application to their guidance department by their deadline of March 29, 2023 so BSHCA Scholarship Committee will receive it by April 5, 2023.
Completing this application and including transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, clubs, activities, and essay.

Those students of BSHCA members must mail application to the address below by April 5, 2023. Only completed applications will be considered.
