BSCA 2024 Scholarship Program

This year Berkeley ShoresCivic Association offered two (2) $1000.00 scholarships to help students of BSCA members in good standing and students from Central Regional High School attain their educational goals.

 

The Scholarship recipients are:

ERIKAS KANGAS, a 2024 graduate of Central Regional High School, has committed to attend Binghamton University in the fall planning to study Biology and continue her soccer career.
Academically, Erika was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the Mathematics Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and the National Social Studies Honor Society. Erika was also the 2024 Salutatorian of her graduating class.

Athletically, Erika was a member of the Central Regional High School Varsity girls’ soccer team - grades 9 - 12. She was the varsity goal keeper all 4 years and the team Captain during the 2023 season.
Her soccer awards included: 1st team All A South, member of the Shore
Conference All Star Team, 1st team All Ocean County, 2nd team All Shore Conference, 3rd team NJ State Group Four.

Erika was also a member of the FC Copa 2006 Elite 64 soccer team which won the National Championship in 2023.

Additionally, Erika is a US Youth Soccer referee, a volunteer at the Faith Community Church Food Pantry and an assistant Sunday School Teacher at the Faith Community Sunday School & Youth Group.

KELLEY BUSCIO, a 2024 graduate of Central Regional High School, plans to attend Tampa University in the fall and will study Business Management.

Academically, Kelley is a member of the National Honor Society, the History Honor Society and the English Honor Society. Kelley earned High Honor Roll recognition grades 9 - 12; she also earned the cheerleading Scholar Athlete Award grades 9 – 12. She also received an Academic Award for GPA in grades 10 – 12.
Additionally, Kelley was a member of Student Advisory grades 9 – 12 and was a Student Ambassador in grades 11 and 12. Kelley Captained the JV Cheerleading team for Football and Basketball her freshman year. She was a member of the CRHS Varsity Cheerleading squad for football grades 10 – 12.

Kelley participated in competitive dancing grades 9 – 12. Her volunteer
activities included the choreography of an elementary school play, assisting at the CentralRegional Middle School carnival and working at the CRHS Back to School Night.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Any graduating student from Central Regional High School who is a resident of Berkeley Township
• A graduating student from any high school whose parents or grandparents are current BSCA members in good standing
• Qualifying candidates must enroll in a two or four year educational institution
• Applicants must submit a complete application packet which should include:

- completed application

- essay of 400 to 600 words; essay should be typed and neatly presented on the following topic:

WRITE AN ESSAY THAT IS ABOUT EITHER A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EVENT IN YOUR LIFE. DISCUSS HOW THE EVENT AFFECTED YOU AT THE TIME IT OCCURRED AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR DECISIONS REGARDING YOUR FUTURE
